Head Chef

For this position, we are looking for a person with solid experience and knowledge from the restaurant industry, preferably from a fine dining restaurant in the Nordic countries. You are passionate about great flavors from the New Nordic cuisine, and you are a clear leader, resource person, organizer, and motivator for your team.As Head Chef, you will have full responsibility for all kitchen operations, staff, and maintenance of our kitchen facilities. The position requires confidence and the ability to work equally well independently and as part of a team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to combine operational work, leadership, and quality development. Creativity, dedication, problem-solving skills, and strong organizational abilities are essential for this role. The position is part of the company’s management team and works closely with the executive leadership.

Qualifications & Personal Attributes We Are Looking For

  • Trade certificate (formal culinary qualification) or relevant experience from a similar position
  • Experience with Nordic cuisine or other relevant cuisines
  • Passion for the profession and motivated by creating outstanding food and beverage experiences
  • Results-oriented, solution-focused, and flexible
  • Ability to motivate and inspire your team
  • Thrives with responsibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English, and preferably Norwegian

Areas of Responsibility / Key Tasks

  • Responsibility for daily operations and development of the kitchen
  • Staffing and shift scheduling
  • Recruitment, training, and follow-up of kitchen staff
  • Apprenticeship supervision
  • Menu development & quality assurance
  • Food cost control & budgeting
  • Purchasing, stocktaking & inventory management
  • Food safety (HACCP): continuous updates & training

Skyskraperen Restaurant is Bergen’s highest-altitude dining destination, spectacularly located at the summit of Mount Ulriken. We offer a restaurant, café, meeting and conference facilities, private event spaces, a panoramic terrace, outdoor grill, and full food and beverage service.
We focus on local ingredients and producers, and their products are reflected throughout both our food and beverage offerings. Our daytime and evening restaurant experience is designed to reflect the raw nature and unique surroundings of Western Norway, with access to some of the finest ingredients in the world. The restaurant is operated in close collaboration with our main shareholder, Ulriken Cable Car Company, and together we have strong ambitions for the continued development and refinement of the concept and identity of the Ulriken643 destination.
